I'm Danielle: I LOVE learning, creating, & growing things. My channel covers my adventures with homesteading, crafting, sewing, woodworking, DIY, hacks that make my life easier (so I have more time!), and more. I occasionally work on big projects, such as my she shed or finishing our basement bathroom, but I also do many small crafts with my Cricut machine, laser cutting machine, and woodworking tools. I am not a licensed contractor- I'm a woman who wanted stuff done and I learned how to DIY it because I frequently can't afford to hire someone. I also love being able to create unique products and items when I have a need, and can't find exactly what I want for sale. I want to empower others to do the same.

Wool as Mulch in the Garden
Переглядів 3021 день тому
This is probably my FAVORITE mulch alternative that I've tried so far- WOOL is amazing at providing a barrier for weeds, helps keep moisture in the soil, and I anticipate that it will break down more slowly than wood mulch. It's also light weight. Read more about wool as a mulch and weed barrier on my farm website, happyhoneysucklefarm.org: happyhoneysucklefarm.org/314/wool-mulch/

This is the BEST Way to Collect Seeds!
Переглядів 25Місяць тому
I am so pleased with myself right now. I have been trying to collect seeds from dandelions but also from other plants like milkweed. I realized that this keyboard vacuum would be the perfect way to do it quickly. It allows me to suck up the seeds without losing as many into the wind. This would also be great if you wanted to collect the seeds before weeding so you don't accidentally spread the ...

Review of Meyer Hatchery: 6 Months Later

This is a review of Meyer Hatchery where I got six female bantam chicks last year. They've become healthy and GORGEOUS chickens... and I had 100% survival rate and 100% correctly 'sexed' (they didn't mess up and send me roosters which was really nice because I DO NOT want or need another rooster, haha). I received these chicks (now adults) as part of a promo with Meyer Hatchery, but this review...

To avoid those gaps, you gotta properly connect them together, they designed just like flooring with tongue and gove and you didn't apply enough pressure
Great video! Can you share how you covered the top foot? I’m going to have about an 8” gap, myself and I’m trying to troubleshoot before I get started. Love your channel!
Danielle, so 2 years on how do you feel about the Eglu hutch and run?
Mixed feelings! I have a bunch of different Omlet (and non Omlet) setups now. Haha. I like the taller ones. If I plan to spend a lot of time with the animal. It's just easier for me to get in. For the animals I spend less time with, these are great. I like having fresh bedding whenever I move them and I think it cuts down on the cost of bedding as well. I prefer the ones that the wheels are on the outside because my chicks are sometimes dumb and like to stand near the wheels while I'm trying to move it.
@@doityourselfdanielle OK great, thanks for the insight.
Don’t out the outlets on top. You run the risk of someone spilling a drink.
Came here to see how to release the clip, not shown in the video, disappointed
Over 5 minutes watching this video and still not seeing how she does it.
Hi there can I put that floor over my bathroom tiles
Could you share your measurements?
Can you engrave on bigger sheets?
Very helpful!
Thank you so. this is exactly what I am doing with my cabin shed. Did not know the concept for doing this especially the 2x 4 studs supports. Can u use molding for gaps with two panels install? 8 foot ceiling ? I going for corrugated ceiling. R13 batts and baffle air gap to puck vents on soffits ceiling and walls.
You can use moulding. I have also seen an alternative to beadboard that's actually fire-safe... it's pvc interlocking panels. I've been eyeballing them but haven't worked with them yet or seen costs. Tempting option for my next build though. It looks easy to clean.
Do I need to have any of the nozzles on the end of the compressor before I attach it to the tire? It came with a bag of doodads but I don’t know which one to put on, or can I just attach it to the tire without one of the swappable parts?
This might work for me. Bein Aller made hats with buttons, but they don't make them anymore.
Great job
Why don't you buy a bag of cheap socks
OMG!!!!!! Yikes!
Thanks! Quick, concise, and very helpful!
Did you say you have three boars, how do they go together? Great vid!! I have my guys free range in the day and in the shed at night/ during extreme weather. They're such fabulous entertainment!!
3 sows! We have 7 now and a slightly different setup. We keep changing and updating.
@@doityourselfdanielle glad to hear I am not the only one addicted to adding to the herd 😂
@@user-xb8sw3yv8d If the rescues would adopt to outdoor homes, I'd have more. 😂😂😂 also I need a bigger shed.
@@doityourselfdanielle Mine are all rescues and have adapted really well to outdoors, I started them for x1 hour daily and gradually increased. They love it and seem to blame me for bad weather when they can't go out aha!!!
You also have to remember that if paneling, which is quite thin you can gets moisture behind it, you’re gonna end up with mold .. sheet rock doesn’t do that.. paneling is merely aesthetic.. On the ceiling of a shed, I want to do corrugated metal sheets, and if I don’t cap the ends, the moisture gets behind and my fiberglass batting with mold… I am putting thin half-inch sheet rock up and I’m not taping texturing. I’m merely gonna be putting up pallet boards for the aesthetic look and Wayne’s coating to offset.
I guess I’m confused. It’s waterproof but they still want you to caulk the edges. Plus you already have Schluter behind the stuff so I’m still not understanding why the caulk between the panels.
Because water goes through gaps? 1st- It's waterproof if you install it properly. 2nd- Just because it's waterproof doesn't mean water won't go through seams. In theory, water might get trapped behind the tiles if it went through. Would the tiles rot? I don't imagine they would. But you'd have a nice warm moist area for mold to grow. 3rd- Not caulking some projects is just sloppy. When you've spent hours installing something, don't skip the last step that only takes minutes. We have tile in our upstairs bathroom, installed by whomever. I have wondered how we'd know if mold was behind those tiles if the install hadn't been done properly. Pretty sure we'd need to wait until we had health issues and tested. 😬
🤷 'Promo SM'
This is similar to the Tree Diaper product i think
What’s the waterproof stuff behind. “Schaluder”?
Schluter
Excellent presentation! JUST WHAT I NEEDED to see! Thank you so much!
On a different video, your 430XH was mowing over fall leaves. It looked like the Automower was unable to chop up the leaves?
Hm I think it takes care of the leaves pretty well ... But maybe the blades were dull in that video? I will need to see if I can find it... We don't get a lot of leaves in our main backyard which is where I originally did a lot of the videos. Trees are pretty far from the area.
Thanks! I think my son might like to try this for his guinea pig!
She loves that white caulk
thank you!
Nice, but why not make an outlet at each end
They aren't particularly cheap and we don't have an easily accessible outlet on that side. If I had a longer couch, I would ABSOLUTELY do two. But we don't really need/use this particular outlet much.

Hi Danielle! What size is the PVC that you have connected to your air blower?
Seems easy to install for a DIYer. Where did you purchase the drop ceiling tiles? They look very nice
I have a video on those! They're great. So much better than the icky ones that flake everywhere. ua-cam.com/video/2HLSRgFIgqc/v-deo.html
Thank you @@doityourselfdanielle
6 to 8 inches by 3 or something like that??? What are the measurements?
A lot of this is just preference. The size doesn't matter. I prefer square and 4x4 or thereabouts.
I liked your video the best. Other presentors went on and on and didn't get any place. Showing once again, if you want something done, ask a busy person. Go Mom! ❤❤❤
Luckily, your gate has a large enough gap between it to the pole, so the wheel fits in. Is it lighter than before installing the wheel?
Awesome!
Useful method, thanks
Not seeing how it would work. The jugs probably stay warm (from sunlight) slightly longer than fresh water, but I'm chalking it up to more Internet fakery. Like all the water pump videos that use no motors or impellers--
What is the white holder around the green pods? I see the green cubes for sale but never seen a white holder around them
The white thing is a pod from Gardyn. It's not necessary... I'm trying to use these up as they're from the hydroponics system that I had before.
Where did you get the little baskets? Thanks :)

@doityourselfdanielle thank you for your prompt reply and additional tips! You rock!
Please explain what the rockwool thingies are and what brand of fertilizer you are using and how much how often.
You can use any brand and I'm not keen on this one vs any other. But I'm using it all up before I experiment a bit more. Whatever brand you get should have info about how much to use per gallon and I had to calculate how much water was in the mason jar and the appropriate dose of the fertilizer. Let me get the info together though and put it in the description.
How's it been holding up?
Where could i plans for this and advice I'd be willing pay
Why is the light designed for the inside, outside?
The light is supposed to be outside. When it lights up, the chickens know the door is closing soon. It's on the exterior of the hutch/run because I wasn't keen on my other location options... the hutch front doesn't have a lot of space without putting it on the outer door.
U may want to watch omlet video about this light it’s for the inside. But if it works with your chicks that’s most important 😊
Huh... Alright, my mistake. 😂 I initially installed this on the enclosed coop run to open into the more free range area. So the light was outside because the coop wasn't near that entrance. It didn't even occur to me to check when I relocated this one!
Ty for your thoughts. I did the same thing to my craft room. But I didn't put the wood in first under the seam, so now it's bowed, I got to figure out what to do to fix it without taking it down. 😮
I will be installing one sheet horizontally up high on a 6'10" tall wall behind the laundry sink and machine in the basement. The wall is extra deep, so thinking of putting the washer hose box set back behind the panel with some sort of panel door but maybe we are overthinking it and should just have it exposed.
Do they try to dig out ? Or is rhere cement underneath dirt? Im trying to make one this summer for my 18 pigs. Is there a vidoe to watch the enclosure being made ?
So my guinea pigs don't try to dig out. My rabbits do. You can buy the wire to put under there which might not be a bad idea. But guinea pig feet are bothered by wire. So you want to cover the wire with dirt afterwards. That all said, I ended up putting stall mats on the bottom of my cages because it's easier to clean than dirt. I'm able to put down sawdust and then scoop it out whenever it's dirty versus trying to scoop the sawdust off the dirt. So far I like this. For the rabbits, I wish I'd put the wire down first because they like to find any small little area to sneak out if they can. 😂 My rabbit May likes to go for a little wander occasionally.
@@doityourselfdanielle thanks for the reply! I will use wire on bottom and cover it. I want to grow grass first before sticking them in it so that'd be comfortable and always have extra access to greens
At 1:18 you can see it is mounted to the ceiling, just snug against the wall.
Thinking about installing some of this. Like you said it looks just like vinyl plank flooring install. I've done my whole house so hopfully this is just as easy.
How did u mount it on the wall?
Hm pretty sure it's exclusively mounted to ceiling, not the wall. But it's been a while since we installed it.
